During Russian attacks, on the night of 24th July 2023, Odessa suffered heavy destruction, including that of prominent architectural monuments in the city’s historic centre. For any Odessan, this damage was a personal affront.
The Étape brand, whose founders are native Odessan's, namely Elena Bezikovich and Max Stanislavsky, decided to join in the fundraising for the restoration of the affected buildings, and to hold a charity event together with the "Unlimited Possibilities" foundation, creating an exclusive limited collection of hand-painted bags. One of the most popular models in the Étape collection, the Mimi Bag, has been used as the basis for this collection. Each bag features a world-famous symbol of Odessa, namely the Vorontsov Lighthouse, a fragment of the Sabaneev Bridge, the door by Mikhail Reva on the Langeron, fragments of the Opera House, and the Votontsov colonnade.
No two bags will be exactly alike, each will be unique. A talented artist, a native of the Khmelnytsky region, Oksana Karpenko, was involved in the work on the drawings.
All profits will be donated to help restore the Stolyarsky Music School.
"For me, as a musician and conservatory graduate, this is one of the places that is most associated with my childhood, where my heart beat faster when I went on stage, and where I worked as a teacher after graduating from the conservatory. It is a place of strength and pride for many Odessan's, as a whole galaxy of world-famous musicians was brought up here. For me, these places are not just locations, they are memories, they are love, they are my roots," says the brand's founder and creative director, Elena Bezikovich.
